
Eight Bruins Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors

Eight members of the UCLA women's soccer team received Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention acclaim for 2015, led by four repeat selections.
Earning their third career All-Academic awards are senior midfielder Annie Alvarado, redshirt junior defender Zoey Goralski, senior forward Darian Jenkins, and senior midfielder/defender Gabbi Miranda. Senior midfielder Lauren Kaskie, junior defender Gabrielle Matulich and redshirt junior midfielder Claire Winter received their second awards, and senior forward Amber Munerlyn became a first-time selection.
Two-year team co-captain Alvarado, a Political Science major, started 21 games for the Bruins and scored a career-best 12 points on three goals and a career-high six assists. Goralski, a Physiological Science major, started in 21 games and totaled one goal with five assists. Jenkins, who majors in American Literature & Culture, ranked second on the team in goals (7) and points (17) and earned second-team NSCAA All-Pacific Region and All-Pac-12 honors, as well as CoSIDA Academic All-District acclaim. Miranda, a Psychobiology major, had 16 starts and scored three goals with one assist.
Kaskie, who majors in Political Science, played in all 22 games and had five starts and one assist. Matulich, a Sociology major, played in 15 games with three starts and scored one goal and one assist. Winter played in 17 games and started seven, scoring one goal. Munerlyn, who majors in Sociology, played in all 22 games and started 14. She ranked third on the team in goals (six) and points (15).
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.
UCLA has had seven or more student-athletes selected to the All-Academic team every year since 2012.
Additionally, UCLA received the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the fifth consecutive year, posting a 3.046 overall cumulative GPA for the 2015-16 academic year.
