
No. 14 UCLA Routs Arizona, 80-53

LOS ANGELES -- Paulina Hersler came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points as six Bruins scored in double figures to help No. 14 UCLA roll past Arizona (11-18, 2-15) on Friday night, 80-53, at Pauley Pavilion.
UCLA (21-7, 13-4) scored the first three points on a traditional three-point play by Jordin Canada. Then Arizona made three of its next four shots to take a 10-5 lead (5:45). But the Bruins closed the quarter on a 14-2 run as Arizona made just two of its last 10 shots, giving the Bruins a 19-12 lead at the end of the first.
Kari Korver hit a three-pointer to open the scoring in the second quarter and the Bruins were never threatened again as the Wildcats would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way. The Bruins built a 41-21 lead at the break as Arizona scored just two points in the final 6:32 of the second period.
Arizona never got closer than 16 points in the third period with the Bruins holding a slight 21-20 lead in the quarter. Only three players were in double figures by the end of the third, led by Canada's 12 points. Korver had 11 and Kennedy Burke had 10 points.
UCLA won the fourth 18-12 and was able to clear its bench for the final three minutes. Chrissy Baird's layup with 1:33 remaining gave UCLA its largest lead of the game at 31 points (80-49).
Nirra Fields scored 13 points to lead UCLA. Canada and Lajahna Drummer each matched Hersler with 12 points. Korver finished with 11 points and Burke contributed 10.
JaLea Bennett led the Wildcats with 15 points. LaBrittney Jones was the only player for Arizona to reach double figures with 10 points.

The Bruins are 17-4 this year when outrebounding their opponent, which it did tonight 40-29. ... UCLA swept the season series with Arizona to improve its dominance at 55-21 in the series history.
