No. 6 UCLA Falls to No. 2 Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. -- No. 6 UCLA (2-2) dropped its second straight match to another top team in the country, this time to No. 2 Pepperdine, 5-0, at the Pepperdine Kick Off at Zuma Beach on Sunday, March 6.
Pepperdine (4-0) got three straight-set victories in the bottom of the lineup to win the dual. On court three, Skylar Caputo and Corinne Quiggle defeated UCLA's tandem of senior Kamila Tan and sophomore Ivey Schmitt, 21-10, 21-15. Then on court four, Madalyn Roh and Anika Wilson beat UCLA's pair of senior Julie Consani and junior Laurel Weaver, 21-9, 21-16. The Waves clinched the win on court five when Samantha Cash and Sara Seiber defeated the Bruins' senior pair of Karly Drolson and Rachel Inouye, 21-17, 21-11.
Pepperdine made it 4-0 when the Waves completed a come-from-behind win on court one as Taylor Racich and Heidi Dyer won a tight three-set match over UCLA's freshmen pair of Nicole McNamara and Megan McNamara, 10-21, 21-19, 15-13. The final match of the day went to Pepperdine's Delaney Knudsen and Kaity Bailey, as they came back to beat UCLA's duo of sophomore Elise Zappia and freshman Izzy Carey, 20-22, 23-21, 15-11.
The Bruins return to action on Thursday, March 10, when they host Cal State Northridge at 9:00 a.m. at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif. UCLA will also face No. 5 Florida State at 11:00 a.m.
