Nine Bruins on Opening Day Rosters

The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) will begin its fourth season this week with nine UCLA soccer alumnae on opening day rosters.
The 2016 season kicks off on Saturday, Apr. 16 with the Washington Spirit hosting the Boston Breakers at 7pm ET. Washington has two recent Bruin graduates on its roster – defenders Megan Oyster (2011-14) and Caprice Dydasco (2011-14), while Boston boasts one Bruin in midfielder McCall Zerboni (2005-08). Another Bruin-heavy matchup will take place Saturday at 7:30pm CT when FC Kansas City hosts the Western New York Flash. Kansas City goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland (2011-14) will take on her former UCLA teammates Abby Dahlkemper (2011-14), Sam Mewis (2011-14) and Taylor Smith (2012-15).
The other two NWSL Bruins will face off on Sunday, Apr. 17 at 4pm PT when Seattle Reign FC hosts Sky Blue FC in a matchup between 2015 NWSL Defender of the Year Lauren Barnes (2007-10) from Seattle and 2015 NWSL No. 2 draft pick Sarah Killion (2011-14) from Sky Blue FC.
