LOS ANGELES - Senior Allexis Bennett recorded three singles and also drove in a run, but the 13th-ranked Bruins fell 8-2 on Friday in the series opener with Oregon State at Easton Stadium.
UCLA (26-12-1, 7-4-1 Pac-12) had eight hits as a team coming from six different players. In the circle, sophomore Selina Ta'amilo (12-4) struck out one in 1 1/3 innings, giving up two runs and three hits, redshirt junior Paige McDuffee fanned one in 3 1/3 frames of relief, allowing two earned runs and six hits and sophomore Johanna Grauer struck out a pair in 2 1/3 innings, giving up three runs and four hits.
Oregon State (26-12-1, 5-8 Pac-12) got two runs in its first at-bat on RBI singles by Natalie Hampton and Alysha Everett. The Beavers tacked on two more in the fourth on an Everett solo homer and an RBI single from Mikela Manewa to increase their lead to 4-0.
The Bruins cut their deficit in two with a pair in their half of the fourth. With one out, freshman Brianna Tautalafua reached on a single up the middle, freshman Paige Halstead walked and junior Jelly Felix singled to right-center to load the bases. A walk to Bennett then drove in junior Robyn Corruth, who was running for Tautalafua, to make it 4-1. Sophomore Kylee Perez followed with a single to left to bring home Halstead to cut it to 4-2.
But UCLA would get no closer, as Oregon State scored one in the fifth on an RBI single by Lovie Lopez and three in the seventh on a two-run triple by Jessica Garcia and an RBI double from McKenna Arriola to go up 8-2. The Bruins left nine on base for the game, including at least one in five of the seven innings.

Tickets are limited and will go on sale when the Easton Stadium box office opens at 3:30 p.m. All tickets are general admission, first-come, first-served.
