Bruins Post Strong Marks at Mt. SAC

CERRITOS, Calif. – The UCLA distance squad went up against the best and shined at the Mt. SAC Relays held on the track at Cerritos College.

On Thursday in the steeple Emily Scharmann posted a huge personal best and etched her name as the No. 2 mark on the all-time UCLA list with a time of 10:29.18. On the men's side Nolan Dickson broke the nine minute mark with a personal best of 8:57.66. Max Davis clocked a 9:24.00.

The personal bests continued as senior Sergey Suschickh ran a 29:30.26 in the 10,000m. Myles Smith clocked a 30:02.09 while Richard Ho ran a 30:20.88.

In Friday's action freshman Arturo Sotomayor ran a personal best of 1:51.25. In the 1,500m senior Ferdinand Edman won his heat with a personal best time of 3:43.80.  Freshman George Gleason also ran a personal best of 3:49.09.

In the 5,000m senior Lane Werley led a trio of Bruins with a time of 13:58.58. Daniel De La Torre clocked a 14:36.79 while Cole Smith ran 14:59.28.

In the heptathlon held at Azusa Pacific transfer Kendall Gustafson completed her first full meet in impressive fashion. The sophomore used huge personal bests in the long jump and shot put to score 5,442 points. That score ranks 10th all-time on the UCLA list.
