Four Bruins Earn All-Academic Honors

BREA, Calif.ย - Juniorย Ashley Zwirnerย and sophomoresย Devin Grab,ย Nicole Reynoldsย andย Alexis Angermundย of the UCLA women's water polo team have earned ACWPC All-Academic honors, as announced today by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).
Grab finished the 2016 campaign second on the team in scoring with 42 goals. An attacker from South Pasadena, Calif., Grab posted the highest cumulative GPA of any current women's water polo player at 3.496, earning "superior" accolades. She was a second team All-American in 2016 and also earned MPSF All-Academic honors.
Angermund, a utility from Long Beach, Calif., had a 3.330 GPA to earn "excellent" honors this season. She scored seven goals on the year, including a season-high three goals to lead UCLA to a 5-4 win over Michigan in the third-place game of the NCAA Championship. She earned MPSF All-Academic plaudits in 2016 as well.
Zwirner, an attacker from Tustin, Calif., had a 3.303 GPA to earn "excellent" honors this year. She was sixth on the team in scoring with 28 goals. She also garnered MPSF All-Academic honors in this season.
Reynolds, an attacker from Burlingame, Calif., had a 3.236 GPA to earn "excellent" honors this year. She recorded 15 goals, including a season-high four goals against Redlands. She also earned MPSF All-Academic honors this year.
Student-athletes eligible for the ACWPC All-Academic award must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and have competed in at least 50 percent of games in the current season. Athlete merit levels include "excellent" (3.2 to 3.4), "superior" 3.41 to 3.7 and "outstanding" 3.71 to 4.0.
UCLA went 26-5 overall in 2016 and finished in third at the NCAA Championship. The Bruins also finished with a team grade point average of 3.053.
