Norman Powell Earns All-NBA Summer League Honors

Powell averaged a team-leading 19.8 points per game


LAS VEGAS โ€“ Former UCLA standout guard Norman Powell has secured second-team All-NBA Summer League honors, as announced by the league on Sunday.

Powell averaged a team-leading 19.8 points per game in five contests this month for the Toronto Raptors' NBA Summer League squad. The 6-foot-4 guard from San Diego also registered 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from 3-point range. Powell made 82.9 percent of his free throw attempts.

Powell, who graduated from UCLA in June 2015 after a four-year career for the Bruins, secured first-team All-NBA Summer League acclaim last July as a rookie.

In his first full season with the Raptors (2015-16), Powell averaged 5.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He played in 49 games and made 24 starts, helping Toronto advance to the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals.

All-NBA Summer League first-team selections this year included Jordan McRae (Cleveland), Bobby Portis (Chicago), Ben Simmons (Philadelphia) and Alan Williams (Phoenix.). Tyus Jones (Minnesota) was named the league's Most Valuable Player.

In addition to Powell, the league's second-team selections included Jaylen Brown (Boston), Thon Maker (Milwaukee), Kelly Oubre Jr. (Washington) and Tyler Ulis (Phoenix).
