UCLA Finishes Sixth in Directors' Cup

Seven Bruin teams placed in Top 10 nationally.
For the fifth consecutive year, UCLA Athletics earned a Top 10 finish in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup, placing sixth overall. It marks the 21st time that UCLA has finished in the Top 10 in the award's 23 year history.
The men's water polo team led the charge in 2015-16, winning UCLA's record 113th NCAA Championship in the fall, the team's second consecutive title and 10th overall. Seven UCLA teams finished in the Top 5 nationally, with Top 3 podium finishes from men's water polo, beach volleyball in the sport's inaugural NCAA Championship, women's golf, men's volleyball and women's water polo. Additionally, gymnastics and men's tennis claimed Pac-12 team titles, while women's basketball advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999.
Developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today, the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup awards points based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports - 10 women's and 10 men's. UCLA has 11 men's sports and 14 women's sports eligible for points and earned 1,091.50 points from 18 teams (nine men's teams and nine women's teams).
The 2015-16 Directors' Cup was won by Stanford, which totaled 1,526.50 points among their 31 eligible sports. The Pac-12 Conference placed a national-best four teams in the Top 10.
