LOS ANGELES – Sam Lovullo, longtime friend of the UCLA baseball program, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 88.

Lovullo, a member of the UCLA Baseball Hall of Fame, created the Parent's Fund that helped raise money to endow scholarships for the baseball program. He orchestrated the first-ever concession stand at Jackie Robinson Stadium with all proceeds going directly to the Parent's Fund.

Lovullo is the father of former Bruins infielder and current Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo. Torey Lovullo played for the Bruins from 1984-87 was named an All-American after his senior season and was inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame in 1999.

Sam Lovullo is best known as a producer and casting director for the long-running television series Hee Haw (1969-92). The Academy of Country Music presented him its Jim Reeves Memorial Award in 1974, an honor conferred on those who contribute substantially to the acceptance of country music throughout the world.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
