SAN FRANCISCO - UCLA was voted first in the Pac-12 softball preseason coaches poll, as announced by the conference on Thursday. The Bruins picked up 59 points and three first-place votes.
Following the Bruins in the poll were Arizona (2nd, 57 points, five first-place votes), Oregon (T-3rd, 47, one first-place), Washington (T-3rd, 47), Utah (5th, 40), California (6th, 26), Oregon State (7th, 21), Arizona State (8th, 19) and Stanford (9th, 8).
The preseason national polls were announced on Tuesday, as UCLA is eighth in both the ESPN.com/USA Softball and USA Today/NFCA rankings.
The Bruins open the 2017 campaign with the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament next Friday, Feb. 10 at Easton Stadium at 4:30 p.m. with a doubleheader against South Dakota and San Diego State. Live audio for both contests will be available at UCLABruins.com.
