UCLA freshman Ena Shibahara (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula HS) was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week today as announced by the league.
Shibahara did not drop a set Saturday, as the No. 20 Bruins swept a home-opening doubleheader. Shibahara and Jada Hart recorded the first doubles win of the morning match, a 6-2 decision over Jana McCord and Parminder Kaur of Saint Mary's. Shibahara then tacked on a fifth point with her 6-4, 6-3 win over McCord on Court 1 in singles play. In the nightcap, Shibahara and Hart got things started again, as they defeated Stefani Stojic and Palina Dubavets 6-2. The freshman then capped off her day with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Dubavets to clinch the match for the Bruins on Court 1 in singles play.
This is the Bruins' 17th all-time player of the week nod and the first of Shibahara's career.
