FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Three Bruin divers, headlined by winner Maria Polyakova, qualified for the NCAA Championships with strong 3-meter performances at the NCAA Zone E Championships. The junior recorded a school-record score of 398.75 in the final round of the event, while Annika Lenz and Ciara Monahan also posted Top 9 scores.

Following the preliminary round, Polyakova trailed Pac-12 foe Kassidy Cook of Stanford by 4.70 points (362.60-357.90). Lenz, meanwhile, came in at 300.45 to round out the top half dozen, while Monahan posted an eighth-place score of 295.50, just 3.05 points above the cutoff line. Kat Friese also advanced to the finals, as she sat within striking distance at 13th, with a score of 286.20.

Over their final six dives, Polyakova, Lenz and Monahan all notched scores over 300 to ensure their placement in the NCAA field. Polyakova topped her Pac-12-winning finals score of 385.00 with a school-record tally of 398.75 to break her own mark set at the 2015 NCAA Championships (392.00). She posted a score of 756.65 overall. Lenz posted a score of 319.60 (620.05 overall) to propel her into fifth in the final standings, while Monahan completed the trifecta with a strong final showing of her own, at 303.45 (598.95).

Polyakova went nearly dive-for-dive with Sharae Zheng of Nevada, who posted an overall score of 737.00. Cook, Phoebe Lamay of California and Haley Farnsworth of Stanford are other Pac-12 divers that will be joining the Bruin trio in Indianapolis.

Friese posted a final-round score of 284.40 (570.60) to finish 14th. She will have another opportunity to qualify for the NCAAs when she competes in the 1-meter event tomorrow. Scheduled to join her are teammates Eloise Belanger, Lenz, Monahan and Polyakova. The preliminary round begins at 10:00 a.m. (PT), while the final round begins at 1:35 p.m. Live results will be available at divemeets.com.
