SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UCLA senior guard Bryce Alford has been selected as one of five finalists for the 2017 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

Alford has already established UCLA's top two single-season three-point field goal marks. He has made a school-record 104 triples this season after having made 93 during his sophomore season (2014-15). The 6-foot-3 shooting guard has averaged a team-leading 16.5 points per game and leads the Pac-12 in three-point field goal percentage (45.4%) through the regular season.
 
Alford made two three-pointers on Saturday night, tying the school's career three-pointers record set by Jason Kapono (317) in 2003.
 
Joining Alford as finalists for this season's Jerry West Award are Marcus Foster (Creighton), Luke Kennard (Duke), Peter Jok (Iowa) and Malik Monk (Kentucky). Alford has shot 47.0 percent from the field, 45.4 percent from three-point territory and 81.4 percent from the free throw line. He leads the Pac-12 in total three-pointers made and ranks sixth in total free throws made (92).
 
Alford becomes the second Bruin in as many days to be listed as one of five finalists for a positional award. Lonzo Ball was selected as one of five finalists for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award on Monday.
 
Ranked No. 3 in the nation, UCLA (28-3) will return to action in the quarterfinal round of the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday, March 9. The Bruins will face the winner of Wednesday night's first-round matchup between No. 6-seed USC and No. 11-seed Washington. UCLA's game on Thursday will be nationally televised on ESPN (8:30 p.m. PT).
