Arnitz Named MPSF/Molten Player of the Week.

Outside hitter Jake Arnitz has been named MPSF / Molten Men's Volleyball Player of the Week. The junior from Esperanza High School recorded a .450 attack percentage last week on 60 swings while leading the Bruins to their sixth and seventh straight wins on the season in away matches over USC and Cal Baptist.

Arnitz hit a career-best .632 in the three-set win at No. 11 USC, while totaling 12 kills and no errors on 19 attacks. Arnitz registered a career-high tying 21 kills and hit .366 on 41 swings in the five-set victory at Cal Baptist. Two of his kills, late in set five, saved the Bruins on CBU match point attempts. In all, he had four of the Bruins total of nine kills during the fifth set.

No. 6-ranked UCLA (17-7, 10-6) will return to action this Friday (5 p.m.) and Saturday (7 p.m.-Senior Night) with back-to-back home matches versus No. 4 Hawai'i (22-4, 12-4). Both contests will be played in the John Wooden Center on Collins Court. Two wins will keep the Bruins in Westwood for the MPSF Quarterfinals as at least the four seed. UCLA can also gain the three seed with two wins over UH and at least one UC Irvine loss this week. UCLA holds a two-way tie over UC Irvine (5-3 sets), and in the event of two wins over Hawaii, would also hold the two-way over UH and a potential three-way over UH and UCI (3-1 matches against the group).
