
Kim Hamilton Inducted into Virginia Hall of Fame

Three-time NCAA Gymnastics champion Kim Hamilton Anthony will be inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame on Apr. 29 in Portsmouth, Va.
Hamilton is part of a seven-member induction class that also includes former Old Dominion field hockey coach Beth Anders, Super Boxl XXXIV Champion Dre Bly, sportswriter Jack Bogaczyk, NBA veteran Bimbo Coles, former U.S. Soccer National Team captain Claudio Reyna and former Christopher Newport University Athletic Director C.J. Woollum.
Hamilton, who is a native of Richmond, Va., was the first African-American gymnast ever to receive a full scholarship to compete at UCLA. She went on to win an unprecedented three consecutive NCAA floor exercise titles from 1987-89 as well as the NCAA vault title in 1989. At the NCAA Regional level, she won a school record-tying seven titles, including three each in the all-around and on floor exercise. She also won Pac-10 titles on uneven bars and floor exercise in both 1988 and 1989. Throughout her career, she earned six All-America honors. Hamilton was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000 and was recently named to the Pac-12 All-Century gymnastics team.
Prior to her UCLA career, Hamilton was a U.S. National Team member from 1984-86 and was an all-around gold medalist at the 1984 South African Cup and a floor exercise gold medalist at the 1984 Coca-Cola Invitational in London.
