Six Bruins Earn All-MPSF Honors

LOS ANGELES – In addition to UCLA head coach Adam Wright being named the 2017 MPSF Coach of the Year, six Bruins earned All-MPSF accolades, led by senior center Matt Farmer's first team selection.
Three Bruins were named to the second team All-MPSF and included senior utility Alex Roelse, senior utility Jack Grover and senior attacker Max Irving.
Two more Bruins, freshman attacker Nicolas Saveljic and redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Alex Wolf garnered honorable mention All-MPSF accolades.
UCLA head coach Adam Wright has guided the Bruins to a 19-4 record, and an NCAA Tournament No. 1 seed. UCLA is 8-2 this year against the NCAA Tournament field, including a 2-1 record against USC and California (both ranked top-four all year), and 2-0 against fifth-ranked Pacific. UCLA combined for five player and newcomer of the week honors this year. He is 225-37 overall (.859) at the helm of the Bruins, which includes an NCAA record 57-game win streak from 2014-16 as well as two national championships. He has also won 51 of 63 conference games (.810). This is Wright's second MPSF Coach of the Year honor, also earning it in 2011.
Farmer is fourth on the team with 27 goals for an average of 1.17 goals per game. Roelse is third on the squad with 31 goals for an average of 1.35 goals per game. Grover has added 11 goals while Irving is second on the team with 37 goals for an average of 1.61 goals per game. Saveljlic leads the Bruins in scoring with 42 scores for an average of 1.91 goals per game, which ranks 4th in the MPSF.
Wolf is third in the league in goals against average at 6.98 and fifth in the league in saves at 10.71 per contest.
The UCLA men's water polo team (19-4) has earned the No. 1 seed at the 2017 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship at USC on Dec. 2-3. The Bruins will be seeking their 11th NCAA title in the sport and the school's 114th overall.
The Bruins are set up with an NCAA semifinal slot and will face the winner of the three teams that will face off in the opening rounds. Fifth-seeded Pacific (19-5) will square off with eighth-seeded Pomona-Pitzer (24-10) in the first game of the opening round at Pacific on Nov. 25. The winner will advance to play fourth-seeded UC Davis (22-6) at USC on Nov. 30. The winner of that game will face No. 1 UCLA at 3:00 p.m. PT on Dec. 2 in the first semifinal.
