SAN FRANCISCO -- UCLA senior linebacker Kenny Young has been named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Bruins' bowl-clinching win over Cal, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Young registered a career-best 15 tackles, including 12 solo stops, in the win which left UCLA with a perfect home record of 6-0 for the season. He added a fumble recovery and 0.5 tackles for loss in the contest. Seven of his tackles came after gains of four yards or less, including a key stop late in the game which helped limit Cal to a field goal after the Bears started with a first-and-goal. The 15 tackles lifted Young into 13th place on the all-time UCLA tackles list. It also pushed him over the century mark in season tackles for the first time in his career with 101 for the year. The 12 solo stops against Cal gave him an average of 5.7 for the year which ranks 17th in the nation and second in the Pac-12.

The Bruins will learn their bowl game destination on Sunday, Dec. 3 --- for bowl game ticket information please go to uclabruins.com/tickets .
