
UCLA Hits Past CSUN, 7-2

LOS ANGELES โ Ryan Kreidler collected three hits and two RBIs, while Chase Strumpf finished 2-for-3 as the UCLA baseball team defeated CSUN, 7-2, on Tuesday from Jackie Robinson Stadium.
Leading 4-2 in the fifth inning, the Bruins scored three runs to make it a five-run game. Jeremy Ydens and Kreidler each collected RBI-singles with the bases loaded followed by Daniel Amaral drawing a bases-loaded walk.
UCLA scored quickly with a pair of runs in the second inning on four base hits. Kreidler hit a RBI-single up the middle to plate Nick Valaika followed two batters later by Amaral plating Ydens with a sacrifice fly to right field.
The Bruins pushed the lead to 4-0 in the third inning as Jake Pries scored on a wild pitch and Valaika drove home Sean Bouchard with a groundball to the second baseman.
Moises Ceja (1-1) earned the win throwing 2.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen and allowed just one hit with three strikeouts. The Bruins bullpen threw the final 5.2 innings without allowing a run and collected six punch outs.
CSUN scored their only two runs of the game in the top of the fourth inning as Nolan Bumstead hit a two-RBI single to right field to make the score 4-2.
UCLA starter Justin Hooper threw 3.1 innings allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts for the no-decision. CSUN 's starter Ray Diaz (0-1) suffered the loss in his season debut throwing ย 1.1 innings allowing two runs on five hits.
The Bruins finished the day with seven runs on 13 hits with one error, while the Matadors ended the two runs on five hits and no errors.
UCLA will travel to Texas this weekend to face the Longhorns in a three-game series starting on Friday at 4:30 p.m. PT. All three-games of the series will be broadcast live on the Longhorn Network.
