UCLA to Host NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS โ The UCLA men's tennis team was named the No. 5 seed in the upcoming NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship, the NCAA Selection Committee announced Tuesday. The Bruins will host an NCAA Regional at Sunset Canyon Tennis Courts from May 12-13.
UCLA will take on Army West Point in the opening round Friday, May 12 (1:00 p.m.). The Black Knights went 21-9 out of the Patriot League, where they recorded a 6-1 conference record in conference play and captured their league title and automatic bid with a 4-2 win over Navy. The other first-round match at Sunset Courts features Ole Miss (16-9, 6-6 in SEC play) and Big West champion UC Santa Barbara (19-5, 5-0). Those teams will also play Friday (10:00 a.m.). The winners will then square off Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
Army West Point and UC Santa Barbara are two of 31 automatic qualifiers that reached by virtue of a conference championship. Thirty-three at-large bids were filled to round out the 64-team field. The winner of each regional will advance to the Round of 16 in Athens, Georgia. From there, teams will be pared down from May 18-23 until a national champion is determined. The University of Georgia will host at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
All matches will be regulation dual matches. During the championships, matches will be stopped after the doubles point in clinched. Singles matches will cease when the first team reaches four points.
Tickets for each day of action will be available at the door. Price of admission for students and children (ages 3-16) is $5. Adult general admission tickets are $8. The first 100 students (w/ valid ID) will receive free admission. For more information about the championship, click here.
