
Seven Bruins Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO - Seven UCLA baseball players earned Pac-12 All-Academic team honors, led by Daniel Rosica being named a first team selection, announced the conference office on Tuesday.
Rosica was named a Pac-12 All-Academic first team honoree for the second-straight season. Junior Jake Bird received All-Academic second team honors, while Sean Bouchard, Scott Burke, Brian Gadsby, Justin Hooper and Matt Walker received honorable mention accolades.
Rosica, a redshirt sophomore from Fountain Valley, Calif., collects his second-straight Pac-12 All-Academic first team honors after posting a 3.71 GPA in Economics and Psychology. He has landed on the Director's Honor Roll every quarter since arriving in Westwood. This season, Rosica played in 40 games at catcher hitting .289 with 14 RBIs, including batting .311 during conference play.
Bird, a native of Valencia, Calif., earns his second consecutive all-academic second team selection. He maintains a 3.56 GPA in Economics. Bird has thrown 51.0 innings and compiled a 5-4 record with a 3.00 ERA and 39 strikeouts.
Burke collects his second honorable mention all-academic honor as he also earned the award last season, while Bouchard, Gadsby, Hooper and Walker received their first all-academic nod.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be a starter or significant contributor.
