Strong Showing for UCLA at Pac-12 Multis

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A trio of Bruins got the championship season underway for UCLA as Christina Chenault, Kendall Gustafson and Monique Van placed fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively in the heptathlon at the Pac-12 Combined Event Championships.
Chenault tallied 5,269 points to edge her teammate Gustafson's 5,217 points. Van scored 5,144 points to help the trio head back to Westwood with 12 team points.
While the three Bruins were busy in Corvallis, UCLA also had a group competing at the Oxy Invitational.
Elleyse Garrett continued her strong spring by clearing 13-6.25 to claim the top spot in the collegiate competition. Melissa Maneatis followed in third at 12-3.50.
George Gleason placed ninth in the 1,500m with a 3:48.56 while Millen Trujillo followed in 16th at 3:52.01 16. In the women's race, Carolina Johnson was 23rd at 4:36.59.
Maddi Moore clocked a personal best in the 800m with a 2:11.75 while Riley Kelly ran a 1:53.63 in the men's race.
In the sprints, Suzie Acolatse clocked a wind-aided 23.83 (w2.9), and Schuyler Moore followed with 24.13.
Following the combined events on Saturday, the rest of the UCLA squad will be competing at the Pac-12 Championships in Eugene, Ore., from May 13-14.
