UCLA to Send 27 Players to Summer Leagues

LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA baseball program will send 27 players to various summer baseball leagues around the country, including the Cape Cod League, Northwoods League and West Coast League among others.
The prestigious Cape Cod League will host threeย Bruins. Freshman All-American Michael Toglia will play for the Cotuit Kettleers and will be joined by sophomore left-handed pitcher Justin Hooper. Right-handed pitcher Brian Gadsby, who appeared in 29 games this season on the mound,ย will play for Falmouth.
A total of 10 UCLA players will play in the Northwoods League. Four Bruins will play for the Duluth Huskies including sophomore outfielder Jake Pries,ย freshman left-handed pitcher Nick Scheidler, who led the team in appearances with 36, and infielders Chase Strumpf and Jack Stronach. Freshman All-American Kyle Cuellar, sophomore outfielder Daniel Amaral,ย whoย led the Pac-12 in the regular season with 16 stolen bases, andย infielder Ryan Kreidler will appear for Mankato. Sophomore infielder Jake Hirabayashi and freshman outfielder Jeremy Ydens will play in La Crosse, while right-handed pitcher Ryan Garcia will appear for the Waterloo Bucks.
The West Coast League will host a total of seven Bruins. Catcher Will McInerny will be playing for Walla Walla, while outfielder Jordan Prendiz will be competing for Wenatchee. Incoming freshman Zach Pettway and Holden Powell will be on the Bellingham Bells. Fellow incomers Michael Townsend will play for Wenatchee, while Kevin Kendall will appear for Port Angeles and RJ Teijeiro will play for Gresham.
Rounding out the summer ball placement will be three UCLA players in the New England League with pitchers Garrett Barker and Kyle Mora playing for Newport and outfielder Curtis Godin on the roster for North Adams. The Bruins will also send three players to the Great West League with right-handed pitcher Jack Ralston and catcher Gavin Johns joining Chico and Ty Haselman playing for Portland. Incoming freshman Sam Glick will play for the OC Giants.
