Josh Rosen on Walter Camp/Unitas Award Watch Lists

Josh Rosen was named by The Walter Camp Football Foundation on Friday to the watch list for its 2017 Player of the Year award as well as to the watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Rosen has risen to sixth on the all-time UCLA lists for passing yardage (5,583), total offense (5,527) and completions in his first two seasons. He threw for a career-high 400 yards last season against Arizona State. It marked the 10thย time in his career that Rosen had thrown for at least 300-yards in a contest, placing him second on that all-time school list. The junior threw for over 300 yards in four total games in 2016 โ 343 yards at Texas A&M, 307 at BYU, 350 versus Arizona and the 400 yard effort at Arizona State. UCLA ranked 19thย nationally in passing offense in the 2016 season.

The Walter Camp watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in mid-November.ย The 2017 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 130 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced on Thursday, December 7.ย The winner will then receive his trophy at the Foundation's 51stย annual national awards banquet on January 13, 2018 in New Haven, Connecticut.
This marks the 30th anniversary of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. The award is presented at the end of each football season and the winner is selected based on his accomplishments both on and off the field. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class. The Golden Arm committee will announce the top 15 finalists for the 2017 award in September. The award presentation will be held on Friday, December 8 in Baltimore.
