Rosen Named Pac-12 Player of the Week
September 05, 2017 | Football
SAN FRANCISCO -- UCLA junior quarterback Josh Rosen has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week for his efforts in the Bruins' historic comeback win over Texas A&M, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Rosen orchestrated five touchdown drives down the stretch, as the Bruins rallied from a 44-10 third-quarter deficit to snatch a 45-44 season-opening win from the Aggies. The 34-point come-from-behind victory marked the largest in UCLA history and the second largest in an FBS game (35 by Michigan State, 2006). Over the game's final 15 minutes, the Manhattan Beach, Calif. native passed for 292 yards and four touchdowns. For the contest, Rosen established career highs in pass completions (35), pass attempts (59), passing yards (491), touchdown passes (four) and total offense (477 yards).
The Player of the Week nod marks the second of Rosen's career and the first for a UCLA player since Ka'imi Fairbairn earned the honor for special teams play (Oct. 19, 2015).
In addition to the conference nod, Rosen also earned a number of other accolades for his week-one performance. The other honors include: Maxwell Award Player of the Week for overall performance on offense, one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week and the Rose Bowl Game Pac-12 Player of the Week.
The Bruins will return to action Saturday when they host Hawai'i at the Rose Bowl. The non-conference game, scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. PT, will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
