
Sophomore Kyla Ross of the UCLA women's gymnastics team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 1-7.
Ross scored three 9.9s and a 9.8 to win the all-around with 39.500 in the season opener as UCLA defeated Ohio State, 196.250-193.200. Her all-around score was the 3rd-highest in the nation and the highest in the Pac-12 on opening weekend.
The native of Aliso Viejo, Calif. tied for first on the floor exercise with a career-high 9.900 and placed second on the uneven bars and balance beam with 9.900s. She helped lead UCLA to a national-best 49.425 team score on floor.
This is Ross's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week of the season and the third of her career.
