Success for Pair of Alums on Pro Tours

Manav Shah won on the Golden State Tour, while Alex Kim earned his car for PGA TOUR Series-China.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. and HAIKOU, China - A couple of Bruin alums found success on a pair of professional tours last week, as Manav Shah was victorious at last week's Motor City/ESPN Bakersfield Open on the Golden State Tour, while Alex Kim earned full exempt status for the PGA TOUR Series-China for 2018.

Shah won at Bakersfield Country Club with a three-round total of 16-under 200 in a tournament that took place from Jan. 31-Feb. 2. Following rounds of 67 and 68, Shah fired a final-round 65 to win by two strokes. In addition to Shah, two more Bruin alums, Gregor Main (T-11, -4, 212) and Matthew Pinizzotto (T-15, -3, 213), also finished inside the Top 15.

After posting an even-par 72 and a 1-under 71 in his first two rounds at the Sandbelt Trails Course, Kim shot a 3-under 69, finishing up with an even-par 72 to place solo sixth (-4, 284). Kim has made two starts on the PGA TOUR (2015 U.S. Open, 2017 Waste Management Open), two starts on the Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada and one Web.com Tour start. Senior Corey Shaun tied for 19th (+3, 291) to earn conditional exempt status for 2018.
