Daenan Gyimah has been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week. The sophomore middle blocker helped to lead UCLA to a pair of MPSF wins last week against Stanford (3-1) and No. 2 BYU (3-0). This is his third MPSF Player of the Week award this season as he was named the league's defensive player of the week on Jan. 22 and 29.

Gyimah hit .632 for the week on 38 swings. He led UCLA in both kills (15 v. Stanford and 12 v. BYU) and blocks (4 v. Stanford and 6 v. BYU) in each match. The kill totals were his highest this season in back-to-back matches.

Gyimah, who leads the nation in hitting percentage at .534, is attempting to become the first Bruin to record at least a .500 hitting percentage (with a minimum of 300 attempts) for a season in the rally scoring era (2001-present). He has hit at least .500 in eight of the last nine matches, including the last five in a row.

Gyimah and the Bruins will host Stanford on Saturday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion in an MPSF Quarterfinal match. The winner will move on to the MPSF semifinal round to be held at BYU on Apr. 19. The Cougars will also host the MPSF Championship match on Apr. 21. The winner of the championship match will receive the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Championship. The pairings for the NCAA Championship, to be held at UCLA, will be announced on Apr. 22.
