UCLA head men's golf coach Derek Freeman has announced the Bruins' 2019 recruiting class, as Chaz Aurilia (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia HS), Mason Greene (Tustin, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS) and Tony Hendricks (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy College Preparatory) have signed their National Letters of Intent.
"I am very excited about this overall class," Freeman said. "They love UCLA and all that our university and our program stands for. Chaz, Mason and Tony all embrace the work that is before them. They all want to work and are looking forward to making that next step."
Aurilia, who has a Junior Golf Scoreboard ranking of No. 79, is a two-time Arizona All-State selection, having helped Arcadia High School to a pair of Arizona Team Championships. Aurilia tied for second at the 2017 Antigua National Invitational and was runner-up at the Dobson Invitational. He also has one AJGA victory and two other Top 5s.
"Chaz is just a good athlete," Freeman said. "He could play any sport with his size and build. He has been one of the best players in the state of Arizona. We have loved recruiting him and he is a player who has incredible upside. Chaz continues growing in the game and works very hard on any areas of weakness."
Greene, ranked No. 75 according to Junior Golf Scoreboard, won the 2017 Toyota Tour Cup with a 7-under total. He also tied for first at the 2018 AJGA Las Vegas Junior at Reflection Bay, setting the course and AJGA tournament record with an 8-under 64. Greene was named to the AJGA Transamerica Scholastic Honor Roll and was the Orange Lutheran HS Most Valuable Player the last three years.
"We have been watching Mason for a number of years and love watching him play the game," Freeman said. "He has competed at the highest level in junior golf and has been very successful. Mason is a player who continues to mature and will develop his skills in a way that can make him very efficient playing the game."
Hendricks, ranked 44th by JGS and third in the state of Arizona, helped Brophy College Prep to an Arizona D1 Team Championship in 2018. He is a three-time, First Team All-State honoree, finishing runner-up in the 2017 Arizona State Championship and third in 2018. Hendricks broke the tournament record at the Chaparral Invitational at 13-under. He is a two-time member of the Junior Americas Cup Team (2016, 2018), a member of the 2017 Eddie Hogan Cup Team and a seven-time winner with the Junior Golf Association of America, earning 2017 JGAA Sportsman of the Year honors.

He has the opportunity to be a very good player in college. Tony's ability to shoot some very low scores at our level is very important."
