HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. - The California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) inducted its 27th Hall of Fame class on Saturday, Nov. 3 and UCLA's Jenny Johnson Jordan joined Mike Lambert and Sean Scott as the three-person class for 2018. The eighth annual induction ceremony took place at the Hermosa Beach Community Center (the CBVA didn't hold induction ceremonies until 2011). The event began with a reception at 5 p.m. at the Beach Volleyball Hall of Fame, located in the Hermosa Beach Historical Society Museum.

Top-ranked volleyball players who have maintained a high degree of excellence and superior play over a significant period of time and have played in California volleyball events are available for consideration. Other criteria includes that each candidate has to have devoted a major part of his or her life to the sport of volleyball, and has made positive and meaningful contributions. For a player to be considered as a viable nominee, there must be a five-year interval after playing full time at a professional level. Annually the Hall of Fame Committee develops a slate of nominees and selects at least one male and one female, with no more than three players being inducted each year. An additional person may be selected from time to time.

"The game of beach volleyball gave me the opportunity to continue my competitive career in volleyball," said Johnson Jordan, who is an assistant coach with the UCLA beach volleyball team. "It was a big transition from only playing indoor my whole life and then graduating college and delving right into the pros."

"This game has allowed me to play a sport for a living, to compete at the highest level and to live a lifestyle that gave me ample quality time with my family and also the opportunity to travel the world."

After being named the AVP Rookie of the Year in 2002, Johnson Jordan was named the Best Offensive Player in 2002 and 2004 and MVP in 2004.

Johnson Jordan won 10 professional titles, including a Manhattan Beach Open title in 2002 with her teammate, UCLA Bruin Annett (Buckner) Davis. After a stellar career at Windward High School she played indoor volleyball at UCLA and currently serves as an assistant coach for the beach volleyball team, which won its first NCAA Championship in 2018.

Johnson Jordan competed on the Pro 4's, FIVB, WPVA, BVA and AVP Tours and in 2000, finished fifth in the Sydney Olympic Games. In 1997, she won the FIVB 4-Person World Beach Championship at UCLA. Two years later, she won a Silver medal at the FIVB World Championships in Marseille, France.

Johnson Jordan, daughter of Olympic Gold medalist, Rafer Johnson (1960 Summer Olympics in the decathlon), is married to former UCLA All-American wide receiver Kevin Jordan.

"I think that Jenny is one of the most deserving athletes to receive the honor of being named to the CBVA Hall of Fame," her father, Rafer Johnson, told the Daily Breeze. "I admire her talents, her competitive spirit and her dedication to the sport of volleyball. As a player and now as a coach she continues to inspire people to be the very best they can be."
