UCLA Faces Final Tune-Up Before Conference Play

LOS ANGELES – Fresh off its most lopsided win of the 2018-19 season, the UCLA women's basketball team will cap the non-conference season on Friday when it hosts the Cal Poly Mustangs at 5 p.m. (PT).

The Bruins led from wire to wire in a 78-47 win over Illinois-Chicago on Dec. 19 in the Windy City.
Sophomore Michaela Onyenwere collected her third double-double of the year with 19 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a career-high-tying three blocks, while senior Lajahna Drummer tied a career high with 16 points on 6-for-7 shooting.
Drummer scored seven of UCLA's first 12 points, as the Bruins started the game on a 12-0 run and hit their first five from the field. UCLA's swarming defensive pressure forced 12 Flame turnovers in the first quarter, which turned into 14 Bruin points.
UCLA entered the second quarter up 21-5 and led 39-15 at halftime. The Bruins closed the contest with a 16-5 run, forcing UIC to go 2-for-13 down the stretch to make the final score of 78-47 UCLA's largest lead of the affair. UCLA hauled in a season-high 29 offensive boards and forced 27 turnovers.
At a Glance: Cal Poly
The Cal Poly Mustangs collected their third win of the 2018-19 campaign on Dec. 17 by defeating Seattle University, a 60-50 triumph on the road.
In her Cal Poly debut, Hana Vesela scored a team-high 17 points. After stretching its lead to 46-38 midway through the fourth, Seattle managed to cut the deficit to five (55-50). However, five late Mustang free throws kept the Redhawks at bay.
Cal Poly has been led by Devin Stanback's 14 points per game, while Alicia Roufosse and Katie Nunnelley both average over eight points a game. The Mustangs dish out over 15 dimes per game but average 20 turnovers per outing.

UCLA owns the all-time series, 8-0. The Bruins won the last meeting on Nov. 20, 2016, by a final score of 80-64. Jordin Canada just missed a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. UCLA led by 22 at halftime and stretched its lead to 70-42 after three to seal the win.
