Olsen Tabbed NCBWA Preseason All-American

DALLAS – UCLA junior right-handed pitcher Jon Olsen was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-America third team, announced the organization on Monday.
The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. native posted a 7-1 record and a 2.86 ERA last season. The All-Pac-12 selection totaled 80 strikeouts in 85.0 innings and 15 starts while holding his opponents to a .201 batting average. Overall, he ranked top-10 in the Pac-12 in ERA, strikeouts and opponent's batting average. During conference play, he made nine starts and finished with a perfect 6-0 record and a team-low 2.08 ERA.
Olsen pitched for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team over the summer where he went 1-0 with a 2.67 ERA in six appearances as Team USA earned series victories over Japan, Cuba and Chinese Taipei. He recorded 15 strikeouts compared to just two walks and became the first UCLA player to compete for Team USA since James Kaprielian in 2014.
