MIAMI -- No. 2 UCLA won its 18th consecutive dual with a 5-0 victory over No. 11 Grand Canyon (8-11) on Saturday morning at Lummus Park Beach Courts at the FIU Surf 'N' Turf Invitational.
The Bruins, who improved to 23-3 on the season, will return to action later today in their final dual of the tournament in Miami, Fla., against No. 8 South Carolina.
Junior Sarah Sponcil and sophomore Lily Justine secured the first team dual point with a straight-set win on court two over GCU's Bella Bauman and Jessica Stansfield, 21-11, 21-11.
Juniors Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara put the Bruins up 2-0 with a straight-set win on court one over GCU's Molly Turner and Hannah Towne, 21-16, 21-18.
The Bruins clinched the dual on court five when freshman Megan Muret and junior Izzy Carey defeated Grand Canyon's Madison Relaz and Jessica Clark, 21-19, 21-18.
Senior Elise Zappia and freshman Mac May made it 4-0 UCLA with a three-set thriller over the Lopes' Emily Reinking and Jamie Walsh, 21-14, 20-22, 15-10 on court four.
UCLA's junior Zana Muno and sophomore Savvy Simo completed the 5-0 sweep on court three, posting a two-set victory over the Antelopes' Taylor Jarzombek and Katie Pyles, 21-12, 21-19.
In an exhibition match on court six, freshman Cami Sanchez and sophomore Chanti Holroyd took down GCU's Jordan Sanchez and Olivia Unnasch in straight sets, 21-10, 21-13.
