
No. 9 UCLA Earns 12-4 Win over Cal State Fullerton

LOS ANGELES โ Chase Strumpf recorded three doubles, while Michael Toglia went 3-for-5 with two doubles and Daniel Amaral drove in three runs and scored four times as the No. 9 UCLA baseball team defeated Cal State Fullerton, 12-4, on Tuesday night from Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Bruins have now won seven of their last eight games.
Kyle Mora (3-1) earned the win tossing 1.0 innings in relief allowing one run on two hits, while starter Jack Ralston went 4.2 innings surrendering two runs, one earned, on three hits with one strikeout.
UCLA scored the first run of the game in the second inning when Daniel Amaral drew a walk, stole second base and then scored on a two-out single to center field by Ryan Kreidler.
The Bruins put up two more runs in the third inning when Strumpf and Toglia hit back-to-back RBI-doubles down the left-field line to take a 3-0 lead.
Cal State Fullerton cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth inning, but the Bruins responded with a four-run bottom half. UCLA loaded the bases and Amaral plated the first run with a ground ball to second base. Garrett Mitchell would then drop down a sacrifice bunt to score Toglia but an errant throw would also allow Amaral to cross home. Pinch-hitter Kyle Cuellar then came up and smacked a RBI-double to right-center field for the final run of the inning.
After the Titans scored a run in the sixth inning, UCLA came back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh when Kreidler and Jeremy Ydens each plated runs with sacrifice flies to right field.
The Bruins tacked on three more runs in the eighth inning highlighted by a two-run double to deep left field by Amaral.
UCLA (26-10) scored 12 runs on 18 hits with one error, while Cal State Fullerton (19-20) finished the game with four runs on six hits with three errors.
UCLA will be on the road this weekend atย Cal Poly for a three-game non-conference series starting on Friday at 6 p.m. PT from Baggett Stadium.
