Bruins Finish Sixth at Pac-12 Rowing Championships

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The UCLA women's rowing program finished sixth at the season-culminating Pac-12 Championships on Lake Natoma near Sacramento on Sunday morning.
 
The Bruins' varsity four recorded a fifth-place finish at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center, crossing the finish line ahead of Oregon State and USC.
 
UCLA's varsity eight crew finished seventh, while the second varsity eight boat raced to a sixth-place finish. In addition, the Bruins raced a novice eight boat (fourth place) and third varsity eight crew (fifth place).
 
Washington claimed the 2018 Pac-12 title, posting first-place finishes in all five women's races on Sunday morning.
 
The Bruins' V8+ crew posted a final time of 6:58.625, finishing less than two seconds behind sixth-place Oregon State (6:56.633). Washington won the heat, followed by Stanford, California, USC and Washington State.
 
UCLA's 2V8+ crew crossed the finish line in a time of 7:08.853. The Bruins finished ahead of Oregon State (7:21.613) and were 7.58 seconds behind fifth-place Washington State (7:01.725). Washington won the 2V8+ race, followed by California, Stanford, USC and Washington State.
 
The Bruins' V4+ finished fifth out of seven boats, posting a final time of 8:00.136. Oregon State finished sixth (8:05.422) and USC finished seventh (8:09.533). Washington won the varsity four race and was followed by California, Stanford and Washington State.
 
The Bruins posted a fifth-place finish out of six boats in the third varsity eight race, logging a final time of 7:23.664, more than 24 seconds ahead of sixth-place USC (7:48.114). Washington posted a first-place finish in the 3V8+ race, crossing the finish line ahead of California, Stanford and Washington State.
 
UCLA was one of four schools to race in the novice eight competition, posting a fourth-place finish. The Bruins registered a time of 7:20.10. Washington finished first, followed by California and Washington State, respectively.
