The UCLA women's volleyball team begins its 12-day European tour (June 16-27) this weekend, which will see the Bruins travel to the Czech Republic (Prague), Austria (Vienna), Slovenia (Maribor) and Italy (Venice and Milan).

"We are very grateful for the opportunity to take this team to Europe," head coach Michael Sealy said. "The international travel, as well as practice and competitive opportunities over there, are going to be great life experiences for each player. We thank everyone that helped make this happen and we are honored to represent UCLA across the globe."

In addition to sightseeing in the four countries, the Bruins will also be playing friendly matches against professional teams, National Teams and Junior National Teams. The NCAA allows programs to go on an international tour once every four years. The most recent international trip for the UCLA women's volleyball team came in 2006 when the Bruins toured Slovenia and Italy for 10 days.

"I was lucky enough to be a part of the 2006 UCLA squad which took the international trip," assistant coach Kaitlin Nielsen said. "The trip was incredible. Not only was the competition and training beneficial, but it was an unbelievable team bonding experience."

"I am so excited for Europe because I have never been before and it's going to be an amazing first experience with my teammates," senior Kyra Rogers said. "I am most looking forward to all of the food over there and sightseeing in all of the beautiful countries we're going to. I am very grateful that UCLA is allowing us to travel there because I already know it is going to be a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget."
