ORADEA, Romania -- UCLA sophomore forward Ally Rosenblum spent July 7-15 as a member of the U20 women's team from Israel that traveled to Oradea, Romania for the FIBA U20 Women's European Division B Championship. Israel finished in sixth place, one spot better than in 2017.
Israel opened pool play with a 72-55 win over Great Britain on July 7 with Rosenblum starting and scoring 10 points while hauling in seven rebounds and recording two steals. In another start, this time a 78-73 setback to eventual third-place finisher Lithuania, she registered 10 points to go with two rebounds and one block on July 8. Her third straight start came in a 71-67 win over Greece on July 9 with Rosenblum again scoring 10 points and adding five boards and another block. The next game was on July 11 against the hosts, Romania, which would go on to place fourth. Israel would lose the game, 64-43, with Rosenblum starting the contest, but only playing 12 minutes. She tallied four rebounds, two points and one steal. Israel concluded Group A play on July 12 with an 87-69 loss to Ukraine with Rosenblum starting again. She had a productive night with 15 points (5-for-5 from the field) and grabbing four rebounds. Israel finished pool play with a 2-3 record and was relegated to the 5-8 classification games..
In its first classification game, Israel trounced Bulgaria, 92-63, on July 14 with Rosenblum.starting and recording a monster game of 15 points, 16 rebounds, two steals and one assist. But Israel fell to Turkey, 71-53, on July 15 to finish in sixth place. Rosenblum started for the seventh-straight game, but only played six minutes, recording one rebound and one steal.
Rosenblum averaged 8.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, starting all seven games at center, as Israel went 3-4 during the FIBA U20 European Championship.
