July 26, 2018 | Football
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. โ Pac-12 football had its moment in the sun Wednesday, as representatives from each of its member teams took part in the conference's annual media day event at Hollywood & Highland.
UCLA's trio of ambassadors consisted of head coach Chip Kelly, senior linebacker Josh Woods and junior wide receiver Theo Howard. The group moved from station to station over the course of the day, marking the beginning of the 2018 season with members of the local and national media.
"It's been a fun day. Enjoyable," said Kelly, who was last on the big stage. "Got a lot of things going on, so interesting questions, and a lot of fun. The good part for us is when we get to next Friday and get back to football itself."
Howard (Westlake Village, Calif.) had a breakout 2017, catching 23 balls over the final three games (7.67 per game). He posted totals of 56 receptions, 594 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Woods (Upland, Calif.), meanwhile, recorded 30 tackles, one sack and 3.5 tackles for loss. He notched five-tackle performances in four of his seven games played.
The Bruins, who received two first-place votes in the preseason media poll, were picked to finish fourth in the Pac-12 South Division.
Single-game tickets for Kelly's first season at the Rose Bowl are now available at uclabruins.com/tickets. The Bruins will open play at home versus Cincinnati on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 4 p.m.
