Mace, Fleming Called into National Team Duty

UCLA All-Americans Hailie Mace and Jessie Fleming have been called into National Team duty for international friendlies next week. Mace will join the U.S. Women's National Team training camp ahead of Aug. 31 and Sept. 4 matches with Chile, while Fleming joins Canadaย for a Sept. 2 friendly against Brazil.
Also called into the U.S. Women's National Team training camp are former UCLA soccer players Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis, McCall Zerboni and Mal Pugh.
Eighteen of the 23 U.S. players called into camp will suit up for each of the games. The first Friday, Aug. 31 match will take place at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. and will be televised live at 8pm PT on ESPN2. The Tuesday, Sept. 4 match will be at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif. at 7pm PT, live on ESPN2. Canada plays Brazil in Ottawa on Sunday, Sept. 2.
These will be the final matches before the teams enter the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship in October on a quest for a berth to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
Mace, who is receiving her third call-up to the full team, earned her first cap on Apr. 8 against Mexico. The All-American forward had a memorable start to her collegiate season last week, scoring the first-ever goal in Wallis Annenberg Stadium in the final two seconds of regulation to beat Long Beach State. Mace was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for her heroics.
Fleming has 53 caps and 41 starts with the Canadian Women's National Team and was a starter for the bronze medal-winning team at the 2016 Olympics. She also played for Canada at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. A finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and Honda Award last season, the two-year UCLA team captain enters her junior season with 17 goals and 13 assists.
