For the second-straight week, sophomore forward Michaela Onyenwere of the UCLA women's basketball team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week (Dec. 24-30).
Onyenwere played an instrumental role in UCLA's 72-65 win over crosstown rival USC to open up Pac-12 play on Sunday afternoon. The Aurora, Colo., native earned her fourth double-double of the year with 27 points and 12 rebounds, as the Bruins overcame a 13-point deficit to knock off the Women of Troy. She nailed a career-high three triples en route to notching her fourth game with 25 or more points. Against Cal Poly, Onyenwere registered nine points and four rebounds in 17 minutes of action to help UCLA cap non-conference play with a dominant 81-35 win over the Mustangs.
This is Onyenwere's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award this season and of her career.
UCLA hits the road to face No. 14 California (Jan. 4) and No. 6 Stanford (Jan. 6). Both games will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
