Sophomore Briana Perez was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball First Team on Thursday, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions, including NCAA Division I.
First team honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
Perez, a human biology major, is the first Bruin to be named CoSIDA Academic All-District since 2010 (Samantha Camuso). Perez, who was named All-Pac-12 Conference First Team and Pac-12 All-Defensive Team, is first on the team with 57 runs scored, second with 18 stolen bases and 19 multiple-hit games and third with a .384 batting average and 10 doubles, adding five home runs and 39 runs batted in.
