LOS ANGELES – The UCLA women's rowing program has added 15 high school student-athletes to its incoming class, as announced Thursday by head coach Amy Fuller Kearney.
 
The 15 incoming student-athletes will enroll as freshmen at UCLA during the 2019-20 school year.
 
"We are absolutely thrilled with the Class of 2023," Fuller Kearney said. "This is a talented group of student-athletes that will bring a very high quality of character, discipline and drive to be successful on and off the water. We can't be more proud to call these young women Bruin rowers and to welcome them to our family."
 
The Bruins' latest incoming class includes nine high school student-athletes from California, two from the Northeast and four from the United Kingdom.
 
Seven of the high school student-athletes reside in Northern California. The incoming class features Ellen Ulitsky (Sunnyvale, Calif.), Irene Ulitsky (Sunnyvale, Calif.), Erin Butler (Roseville, Calif.), Gabby Bromberg (Menlo Park, Calif.), Piper Thrams (Carmichael, Calif.), Gigi Onken (Berkeley, Calif.) and Sydney Page (Roseville, Calif.) from the northern half of California.
 
Three incoming student-athletes from Northern California – Butler, Page and Thrams – excelled for Capital Crew, a junior rowing program outside of Sacramento, Calif. Butler and Page each competed last year at U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals. Butler finished sixth in the nation in the Youth 8+, while Page coxed the lightweight 8+ to ninth in the country.
 
Incoming freshmen Alex Benson and Sofia Papini reside in nearby Long Beach, Calif. Traveling from the Northeast to attend UCLA are Julia Golder (Hanover, N.H.) and Jane DiLauro (Ramsey, N.J.).
 
UCLA's incoming group of four student-athletes from the United Kingdom include Abby Adebiyi, Jessie Goodall, Lucy Pullinger and Olivia Caesar. Pullinger represented Great Britain at the 2018 Junior World Championships in the Czech Republic.

Alex Benson

· Won the bronze medal at the 2018 Youth Nationals in the Long Beach 4x
· Captured the silver medal at the 2018 SW Youth Championships in the 4x
 
Gabby Bromberg
Height: 5-foot-10
Hometown: Menlo Park, Calif.
· Competed at the 2018 Junior National Team High Performance Camp
· Was a standout sweep rower at NorCal Crew in Redwood City, Calif.
 
Erin Butler
Height: 6-foot-1
Hometown: Roseville, Calif.
· Rowed for Capital Crew's varsity eight (V8+), finishing sixth in the nation in 2018 (results pending for the 2019 championships)
· Won a silver medal at the 2019 Southwest Youth Championships
· Participated at the 2018 U.S. Junior National Team Selection Camp
 
Olivia Caesar
Height: 5-foot-10
Country: United Kingdom
· Rowed for Great Britain at the Coupe de Jeunesse in 2017 and 2018 (8+ and 4+)
· Finished fourth at the 2018 British Championships
· Stroked the Leander 4- in 2019
 
Jane DiLauro
Height: 5-foot-8
Hometown: Ramsey, N.J.
· Finished second in the region (4x) and third in the region (1x) 
· Raced to a third-place finish at the Stotesbury Cup (2016 senior 1x) 
· Served as a rowing team captain 
 
Julia Golder
Height: 5-foot-10
Hometown: Hanover, N.H.
· Finished first and second, among all public schools, in 2018 and 2019 at the New England Championship
· Was a New Hampshire state champion in 2019
· Competed for four years on the varsity basketball team (co-captain)
· Was an all-state senior team selection (basketball) in 2019 and N.H. state champion
 
Jessie Goodall
Height: 5-foot-9
Country: United Kingdom
· Served as captain of the Junior Women's England team (Home Internationals, winning gold medals in the 8+ and 4+)
· Served as team captain for the Tideway Scullers (junior squad)
 
Gigi Onken

· Coxed the Oakland Strokes N4+ and N8+ to silver medals at the 2018 Southwest Youth Championships

· Served as captain of boats at Headington School in Oxford (2017-18)

Piper Thrams
