LOS ANGELES – UCLA Football will play host to the Oregon State Beavers this Saturday, October 5 at the Rose Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. PT.
Parking lots for UCLA vs. Oregon State Gameday presented by Coca-Cola will open at 12:00 p.m. Fans are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and pre-purchase parking online here for $5 discount off on-site pricing.
The Rose Bowl, recently named college football's greatest stadium by Sports Illustrated, offers one of the best tailgating experiences in college football, with a variety of options for pre-game celebrations. New this year, Rose Bowl Concessionaire, Levy Restaurants, is operating the brand-new "Country Store" in the Arroyo Tailgate area on the golf course, adjacent to the Brookside clubhouse. This is a go-to stop for all fans' tailgating needs. No need to worry about leaving something at home.
The Fan Zone in Lot H opens at 1:45 p.m., offering a wide variety of public activities and photo opportunities. The Victory Bell will be available for fan photo opportunities pregame in the Fan Zone, then in the Court of Champions inside Gate A. Fans should be sure to check out the UCLA/Under Armour Photo Booth, also at Gate A.
Two "cooling buses" will be available outside the Rose Bowl for fans to cool off from 12:30 p.m. until the sun sets. The air conditioned buses will be outside of the Public Safety building, near Gate B.
Continuing in 2019, the UCLA Football team will arrive at the Rose Bowl via Arroyo Blvd., where they will depart the bus outside Gate A. Fans are encouraged to cheer on the Bruins as they arrive for a modified Bruin Walk along the west side of Arroyo. Tentative timing is planned for 2.5 hours prior to kick-off, but fans should follow @UCLAGameday on Twitter for the most up to date information, and all their Rose Bowl gameday needs.
UCLA Athletics is proud to join our institution in celebrating UCLA's Centennial all season long. The football team will mark the Centennial with a UCLA 100 helmet sticker for every game, and a UCLA 100 jersey patch for all home games.
Rose Bowl gates open at 4:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to enter the Rose Bowl early. The first 4,000 fans to enter on Saturday will receive a McDonald's voucher good for one free breakfast sandwich. As a reminder, enhanced screening procedures, including the use of electronic security equipment at all gates, have been implemented at UCLA Football games. The Clear Bag Policy limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into the Rose Bowl. The policy is designed to provide more consistent screening and to expedite fan entry.
New this season, the Rose Bowl, in partnership with concessionaire Levy Restaurants, introduces more than 10 new concession items to the menu throughout the stadium. Additions include Acai Bowls, Continental Empanadas, "The Arroyo" Turkey Sandwich, and a Beyond Bratwurst – a great vegan option for fans. Fans can also find value-priced concessions in two locations. Value-priced $3 nachos and hot dogs and discounted fountain beverages will be on sale near tunnels 8 and 21.
Saturday marks UCLA's annual Zero Waste Game, part of the Pac-12's Zero Waste Competition, in which Conference universities compete with each other in pursuit of a zero waste home game. UCLA is working with its partners at the Rose Bowl and Levy Restaurants to engage and encourage everyone at Saturday's game to do their part by reducing, reusing, recycling and composting. Gameday sponsor Coca-Cola has organized a group of 100 volunteers who will pick up and sort recyclable material throughout the tailgating areas in Lot H. As part of continuing efforts to eliminate plastic waste, UCLA and the Rose Bowl have partnered with Avoplast to offer sustainable straws in place of plastic straws for every remaining UCLA home game this season and through the 2020 football season. UCLA fans in attendance on Saturday, and at every game, are encouraged to help show the Bruins' active commitment to zero waste and sustainability.
Saturday's Honorary Captain is Joe Fauria, who played tight end for the Bruins from 2010-12. In 2012, he was a member of UCLA's Pac-12 South Division Championship team and a Mackey Award semi-finalist. He hauled in 12 touchdown catches that season, second on the all-time school single-season list at the time. Fauria's total of 20 career touchdown receptions ranks tied for third on UCLA's all-time list. He finished his career with a reception in 22 straight games and a touchdown reception in six of his final seven games as a Bruin. His total of 110 receiving yards against Houston in 2011 was the highest by a Bruin tight end since Marcedes Lewis had 131 in 2005 against San Diego State.
Fans should be in their seats by 5:30 p.m. to witness pregame festivities, including a Team FasTrax parachute jump and a National Anthem performance by the UCLA Marching Band. Halftime will feature an additional performance by the UCLA Marching Band along with 3,000 high school band members from throughout Southern California.
Also during Saturday's game, UCLA's beach volleyball team will be honored for its 2019 NCAA Championship. Last May, the second-ranked Bruins took down No. 1 USC 3-0 to win the team's second-straight NCAA title, the school's 117th.
Diver Maria Polyakova also will be recognized for winning the 2019 NCAA 3-Meter Diving National Championship. Polyakova was named CSCAA Diver of the Year after becoming the program's first-ever diver to win an individual NCAA Championship and the first Bruin swimmer/diver to win an individual championship since Annette Salmeen in 1996.
In addition, Glendale Unified School District teacher Randy Kamiya will receive a $10,000 donation as part of the College Football Playoff Foundation's Extra Yard for Teachers initiative. Randy and his wife, Roselia, are both teachers, him at Roosevelt Middle School and her at Balboa Elementary School. Randy built the robotics program Glendale's elementary and middle schools use today, and he is an advisor for the Math, Engineering and Science Achievement (MESA) Schools Program, administered by the University of California.
