LOS ANGELES - The University of Michigan has terminated a two-game football series with UCLA scheduled for 2022 and 2023, it was announced Friday. UCLA Director of Athletics Dan Guerrero was informed of the decision on June 13, 2019.
The contract, signed by the schools on Sept. 12, 2013, called for a home-and-home series beginning Sept. 10, 2022 at Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines were set to make a return trip to the Rose Bowl on Sept. 2, 2023.
Per the agreement, Michigan is required to pay UCLA a $1.5 million termination fee by Sept. 12, 2023. UCLA has already begun the process of finding opponents to fill the vacant schedule slots.
