Iloski Headlines Bruins' Four All-Pac-12 Picks

November 20, 2019 | Men's Soccer

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's soccer team had four players selected to the 2019 Pac-12 All-Conference Team, the league announced on Wednesday. The Bruins' group of honorees was headlined by First Team choice Milan Iloski.

UCLA had pair of players named to the Second Team in sophomore midfielder Riley Ferch and redshirt senior defender Matthew Powell. Junior midfielder Eric Iloski garnered an honorable mention for the third consecutive season.

Milan Iloski's all-league honor was the second of his career, after earning an honorable mention last year. The junior forward finished the regular season as the NCAA leader in goals per game (1.06) and co-leader in total goals (17).

The San Diego, Calif. native was both a consistent and dynamic scorer in 2019. He recorded a point in 11 of the 16 games he played this season, finding the back of the net in 10 of those games. The striker erupted for a school-record five goals against San Diego State on Oct. 6 and also notched a hat trick to lead the Bruins over then-No. 1 and defending national champion Maryland on Sept. 6.

His 17 goals on the campaign were the most in a single season by a Bruin since Chandler Hoffman's 18 in 2011, and he is the first Bruin to finish with more than a goal per game since 1980 (Ole Mikkelsen, 1.22).

Ferch had a breakout debut season with UCLA, co-leading the conference and ranking 10th nationally with nine assists. His nine helpers are the most by a Bruin since Jackson Yueill had 11 in 2016. The Margate, Fla. native was especially productive after locking down a starting role on Oct. 1 against UC Riverside, as he recorded one goal and seven assists for nine points over eight games in the month of October.

Powell capped off a solid collegiate career with another standout season in 2019. The Castro Valley, Calif. native gave the Bruins quality minutes in a variety of roles, including center back and attacking mid. Team captain of this year's squad, he recorded two goals and four assists for eight points on the year. Powell was one of three Bruins to start all 18 games this year, and he led all outfield players with 1,561 minutes of action.

Eric Iloski appeared in all 18 and started the final 16 games of the season, recording two goals and four assists for eight points in 1,445 minutes on the pitch. Like Powell, Eric Iloski played well in a variety of positions, from outside back to winger.
