No. 25 Bruins Fall in Three at No. 12 Washington

SEATTLE - Redshirt freshman Lexi Hadrych led the 25th-ranked Bruins with nine kills, while senior Savvy Simo added nine digs and six kills, but UCLA fell in three at No. 12 Washington on Sunday at Alaska Airlines Arena. Set scores were 25-14, 25-14, 25-23.
Redshirt sophomore Emily Ryan had five kills and five blocks, sophomore Kelli Barry added seven digs, junior Mac May produced six kills and five digs and junior Jenny Mosser registered four kills. Sophomore Devon Chang had 14 assists and three digs and senior Cali Thompson posted 11 assists, six digs and two aces. The Bruins (13-8, 8-4 Pac-12) hit .091 for the match.
The Bruins held a 5-4 lead in set one after Simo produced three kills in a row, however, 6-5 would be UCLA's last advantage of the opener. At 11-10 Huskies, the home team scored 14 of the last 18 points to win the first, 25-14. Simo was 4-for-10 with no errors and four digs, while Hadrych was 3-for-6 with zero miscues. Barry added four digs, while redshirt sophomore Sabrina Smith had three digs. The Bruins were out-hit, .387 to .135.
Washington (17-5, 8-4 Pac-12) led wire-to-wire in set two, winning 25-14.
The Bruins trailed set three at 6-4 before scoring five of six on a Mosser kill, a Mosser/Ryan block, a Ryan/Simo roof, a Washington service error and a Ryan ace to go up 9-7. The Huskies scored the next four and didn't trail for the rest of the set, winning the third, 25-23. Hadrych had five kills, May added three kills and three digs, Ryan had four blocks and Simo and Thompson both posted three digs. The Bruins were out-hit, .310 to .152.
