LOS ANGELESย -ย The 23rd-ranked Bruins will travel to Madison, Wis. this upcoming weekend for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. UCLA's first opponent will be Notre Dame on Friday, Dec. 6 at 2:30 p.m. PT/4:30 p.m. CT at UW Field House. The other first-round contest will pit No. 4-seed Wisconsin against Illinois State, with the winners of Friday's matches playing in the second round on Saturday at 4 p.m. PT/6 p.m. CT.

The Bruins enter the postseason on a four-match winning streak, holding an 18-11 overall record and finishing fourth in the Pac-12 Conference (13-7). Notre Dame closed the regular season with a 19-9 mark and a 12-6 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference, tying for third. UCLA has played the Fighting Irish three times, but not since Aug. 24, 2012 in Lincoln, Neb., when the Bruins prevailed in four sets. UCLA won in three at Notre Dame in 2000 and swept the Irish, again in Lincoln, in 2001.

Wisconsin won the outright Big Ten Conference title, boasting a 22-6 overall record and an 18-2 mark in league play. The Bruins and the Badgers have split their four previous matchups, with UCLA winning in four in Madison in 1990 and in three in Illinois in 1994 and Wisconsin claiming home victories in five sets in 2000 and in three in 2005. Illinois State (22-11, 12-6) earned the automatic NCAA bid by virtue of winning the Missouri Valley Conference tournament. The Bruins won the only matchup with the Redbirds, sweeping them at Loyola Marymount in 2016.
