NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) -- Michaela Onyenwere scored 23 points to lead No. 11 UCLA to a 58-44 victory over CSUN on Saturday night at the Matadome.
Onyenwere made 8 of 10 field goals and had seven rebounds for the Bruins (8-0), who are off to their best start since the 1980-81 season when they won their first 12 games. But the Bruins shot just 33% overall from the floor (20 of 60) and missed 18 3-pointers against the Matadors.
Charisma Osborne and Japreece Dean each added eight points for UCLA. Osborne made two of the Bruins' three shots from beyond the arc. It was Onyenwere's fifth game this season scoring more than 20 points. The Bruins were without 20 points and 10 rebounds, collectively, as Lindsey Corsaro, Chantel Horvat, and Kiara Jefferson were all sidelined for the game. But the contest marked the return of Ally Rosenblum, who had not played since the 2017-18 season due to an undisclosed injury. Rosenblum finished the game with three points, one rebound, one steal, and one block in 11 minutes of action.
De'Jionae Calloway and Jordyn Jackson scored 12 points apiece to lead CSUN (3-7).
UCLA jumped out to a 22-9 lead, but the Matadors pulled to 29-17 at halftime. CSUN cut the deficit to 35-29 with two minutes left in the third quarter, yet the Bruins scored the next six points, capped by Osborne's 3-pointer that beat the quarter buzzer.
Heading into finals week, the Bruins return to action on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2:00 p.m. PT when they host Pacific in Pauley Pavilion.
