LOS ANGELES – After making a statement over the weekend in Oregon, the UCLA women's hoops team earned its first Associated Press (AP) Top 25 ranking of the season.
UCLA landed a spot at No. 25 with 11 votes, becoming the fifth Pac-12 team in the top 25.
On Friday, UCLA (17-11, 10-6) earned the biggest win in program history under The Michael Price Family UCLA Women's Head Basketball Coach Cori Close.
After being down my as many as 22 points at No. 2 Oregon, UCLA came from behind to knock off the Ducks, 74-69. The Bruins closed the first half on a 7-0 run to pull within 15 at the break and outscored Oregon by 20 in the final 20 minutes to notch the upset.
This was UCLA's third win over a top-five AP opponent under Close, and the program's biggest win since knocking off No. 2 Stanford, 69-56, on January 4, 2008, at Pauley Pavilion.
Following a historic win at Oregon, UCLA went to No. 12 Oregon State and gave the Beavers all they could handle before falling, 75-72. The Bruins led by as many as seven in the first quarter and had a chance to tie it in the final seconds before coming up just short.
