UCLA's Wilkes, Hands Secure All-Pac-12 Honors

SAN FRANCISCO โ UCLA sophomores Kris Wilkes and Jaylen Hands have been named second-team All-Pac-12 Conference selections, as announced by the league office on Monday.

The Pac-12 unveiled its 10-member first team as well as its five-member second team, as selected in a vote of the league's 12 head coaches.

In addition, Bruins' center Moses Brown was selected as one of five student-athletes to the All-Freshman Team. Brown was also chosen as an honorable mention selection to the All-Defensive Team.

Pac-12 Networks is set to air the Men's Basketball Awards Reveal on Monday at 5 p.m. (PT). The yearlyย honors for Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year and John R. Wooden Coach of the Year will be announced on-air during the 60-minute show, which will also feature live interviews with award winners.
Wilkes, a sophomore from Indianapolis, Ind., has averaged a team-leading 17.3 points per game. He has shot 43.8 percent from the field and ranks fourth among all Pac-12 players in scoring. Wilkes has scored 988 career points, needing just 12 more to become the 57th player in school history to have scored at least 1,000 points.

Hands, a sophomore from San Diego, has registered 13.7 points and a league-best 6.3 assists per game. Both Wilkes and Hands have been UCLA's only players this season to have started all 31 games. Hands has shot 41.0 percent from the field and 44.4 percent in the Bruins' 18 Pac-12 games.

Brown, a freshman from Queens, N.Y., has averaged 10.2 points and 8.5 rebounds in 30 games (29 starts). He ranks third in the Pac-12 in overall field goal percentage (62.0%) and blocked shots per game (2.0) and is fourth in rebounds (8.5 rpg).

The 10-member first team selections include Washington's Jaylen Nowell and Matisse Thybulle, Colorado's Tyler Bey and McKinley Wright IV, Arizona State's Zylan Cheatham, Utah's Sedrick Barefield, Stanford's KZ Okpala, Oregon State's Tres Tinkle, Washington State's Robert Franks, and USC's Bennie Boatwright.

The five selections on the league's second team include Hands, Wilkes, Arizona State's Luguentz Dort and Remy Martin, and Oregon State's Stephen Thompson Jr.

Joining Brown on the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team are Utah's Timmy Allen, Arizona State's Luguentz Dort, Washington State's CJ Elleby and Oregon's Louis King.

The league's All-Defensive Team includes Arizona State's Zylan Cheatham and Luguentz Dort, Oregon's Kenny Wooten, Washington's Matisse Thybulle and Oregon State's Kylor Kelley.

UCLA (16-15, 9-9 Pac-12) has secured the No. 7 seed in the upcoming Pac-12 Tournament and will face No. 10-seed Stanford (15-15, 8-10) this Wednesday evening at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Bruins' game will begin at 6 p.m. (PT) and will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
